For the love of reading...
I love reading. I fell in love with reading just like all of us do. I curled up with various family members and read the same stories over and over until I had them memorized. I was annoyed with my brother when he embellished or reduced my favorite tales. I curled up with mom and my stuffed green toy rabbit named Rascal and read until she refused to give me "Just one more!" My dad was a storyteller and made us use our imaginations when he told us of the adventures of Rascal the Raccoon. Reading has always connected me to a feeling of freedom. As a young child my first bike ride, that was out of sight of my parents, was to the local library at the Robandee shopping center in Hickman Mills. When we moved to Grandview, I figured out a safe route from the east side of the highway where I lived, to the west side where the library was. I realize how lucky I am to have had a liberal mom.
